Well, it all started way back in 1982 when I first moved to the United States and learned my first letters of the ABC's (the alphabet) the night before getting on the long flight to the United States.... but you didn't really come to this site to hear about my life story and I'm truly saving some of it for the book that I will publish someday. In the meantime, the free man's version of a self-published book (the Blog) will suffice.
So skipping forward a couple of decades as Illinois and the nation support a new presidential candidate from this home state, and I go onto Facebook to trace back much of my childhood roots and friends that I went to school with back in CA... It actually does makes me feel proud of what I have accomplished in this lifetime thus far! Yet, I can't help to further plan for my future based on what was delivered in my fortune cookie a couple of years ago that said, "You are on your way to the most successful and profitable decades of your life" I keep that in my mind at least 50 times a week so that I can remember why I'm up late at night blogging or updating website or researching and planning on my next projects.
My spelling and grammar may not be the best all the time especially, when you frequently suffer insomnia (the time that I use to blog) and as I constantly juggle between different languages in my brain, but you will get some interesting and knowledgeable thoughts that come across in my world relating to international sporting event management -- at minimum, you may see some funny or interesting pictures from time to time.
I often confuse people when I tell them that I speak 2.5 languages -- there are two that I'm fluent in: English and Mandarin, Chinese (or at times Chinglish) and I have conversational Spanish (or at times Spanglish). I had a good grasp of Spanish with folk back in Southern California when I worked in the hospitality industry and was surrounded by folks of different cultures in high school and college, but having lived in Chicago since 1996 and working in corporate environments that were less than multi-cultural, I find myself having to re-learn some of what I used frequently in my past. Over the years, I also learned that the Spanish I learned was not necessarily the Spanish that is used internationally, so I'm also re-learning some of the differences now to help enhance my next couple of decades, along with starting to learn French.
I hope that you all enjoy the blog and provide me with lots of feedback -- keep in mind that "bashing" of any kind just shows me your own insecurities and I will continue to do what I do. However, constructive criticism and suggestions for improvement will be greatly appreciated!
Happy 2009!
